A breastfeeding mother with an overactive/forceful letdown and overabundant milk supply may experience a milk supply that surpasses the normal initial engorgement that comes in the first week or two of breastfeeding. She may also experience strong sensations during letdown, sometimes even described as painful. Milk ejects forcefully from the breast. Leaking is common and sometimes in quantities so heavy that nursing pads, even doubled or tripled, become soaked.

Babies who breastfeed from their mothers with an overactive/forceful letdown can exhibit a number of symptoms and reactions. The extremity of overactive/forceful letdown will usually determine whether or not an infant’s reactions or symptoms are numerous and obvious, or barely noticeable.

Overactive/forceful letdown in the early days of breastfeeding, once an adequate milk supply has come in, will typically cause a nursing infant to choke, sputter, and gasp during nursing. Because this can increase the amount of air baby takes in during each breastfeeding session, baby will often become gassy, fussy, and even colicky. He/she may become frustrated at the breast, especially once letdown occurs. Some babies are so upset by the forceful letdown that they begin refusing the breast and go on nursing strikes.

In cases where the letdown is extremely forceful, as the baby swallows gulps of air, baby will consume and become “full” on foremilk, forgoing the hindmilk. The foremilk, which is watery and much lower in fat and nutrients than the hindmilk, combined with a stomach filled too quickly, causes stomach pain and gassiness.

You may purchase most reliable, effective, safe herbal medicine online to assist you stay beautiful and healthy, lose weight, gain muscle mass or improve your sex drive.

At birth, Rachel Riley (names of patient and family have been changed for this article) weighed one pound nine ounces – not much larger than her father’s hand. She required a respirator, a catheter for feeding, an insulin drip and a monitor for her heart and lungs. Rachel was born four months prematurely, and her birth marked the beginning of a journey that her parents, Peter and Joyce Riley, will never forget.

“The prognosis wasn’t certain,” said Mr. Riley, 37, a custom-home builder from Westchester, N.Y. “We just kept going step-by-step during those terrifying first 72 hours. As she kept going along, we would just pray she would hang on.”

This past year, an estimated 600 infants from 5,100 births were born prematurely or with complications that required the expertise available at NYU/Bellevue Regional Prenatal Center. The Tisch Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), under the supervision of Karen Hendricks-Munoz, M.D., Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at NYU School of Medicine, includes specialists in neonatology, neurology and nursing who can provide infants with state-of-the-art care from the first days of their lives.

Treatment does not focus solely on the children’s medical concerns. Understanding the significance and impact of parental bonding on children’s well- being, the Division has a unique family-centered focus in which parents are provided with individualized education and support, enabling them to be a part of their child’s treatment team.

“Studies show that children’s development improves when parents are part of the intensive care team,” said Dr. Hendricks-Munoz, Director of the Division of Neonatology. “Parents who understand their children’s development know how to comfort and touch their child in the intensive care unit. It helps make a stressful, difficult time a little easier.”

To strengthen Rachel’s bond with her parents, the nurses recommended that Mrs. Riley, 34, and Rachel make skin-to-skin contact. Mrs. Riley also was asked to tape her voice so it could be played for Rachel whenever she was going through an uncomfortable procedure.

“When we touched or talked to Rachel, her vital signs would shoot sky high,” said Mr. Riley. “We were encouraged to keep talking and singing and touching her, and it worked.”

Despite setbacks along the way, including an infection and a collapsed lung, Rachel progressed. After three months, she moved to the special care nursery. Finally, after four months in the hospital, Rachel was able to come home.

Because many children are medically fragile and at risk for developmental delay after they leave NYU Medical Center, the Division provides a Neonatal Comprehensive Continuing Care Program. Under the direction of Randi Wasserman, M.D., Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, the Division uses the resources of the Neonatology Division to provide parents with guidance and support in caring for their children at home. It also provides periodic developmental assessment. When Rachel went home, she was still subject to apnea (see box) and had to he monitored. Because of a problem with insulin production, Rachel also had difficulty eating and gaining weight.

“It can be hard going home with a medically fragile baby and going from many layers of support to none,” said Dr. Hendricks-Munoz. “This program enables parents to ask questions and gain reassurance.”

Children return to the Center five times between the ages of four and 24 months for evaluations with specialists. “During the first visit we were given exer- cises to improve Rachel’s motor skills,” said Mr. Riley. “We also learned how to feed her. After nine months, her growth took off and now, at two years, she’s healthy, healthy, healthy.”

Recently, about 325 NICU “graduates” and their parents attended a celebration of their lives. Dr. Hendricks-Munoz had difficulty recognizing some of the children. “It gave me goose bumps to see the children here, all doing so well after seeing them so sick,” he said. “There is nothing more rewarding than that.”

Sarcoidosis is a rare autoimmune disease of unknown origin that effects approximately 1 to 10 people out 100, 000 people. Sometimes a person with sarcoidosis doesn’t exhibit any signs or symptoms and is diagnosed by accident during routine medical visits or tests for something else and may never have a problem as a result. Another person may have few symptoms and control it through medication and live quite normally, while yet another may be disabled by it. Sarcoidosis can be a very mysterious thing.

I plan on talking about what exactly sarcoidosis is, and all that goes with it, like medications to dealing with doctors to finding ways to cope. In a nutshell, I want to inform a person about this disease, especially those who are newly diagnosed or know someone who has sarcoidosis and maybe take some of the fear and sting out of this.

It is possible to live and deal with sarcoidosis. This disease is treatable. No matter how bad or scary it seems.

I was diagnosed in January 1996 with sarcoidosis. I have good days and bad ones. Sometimes it is a bumpy ride but it is one I am glad that I have had. I was always healthy until this. I didn’t have a clue as to what it would like to not be a healthy person. It has given me a new perspective on things and taught me a little more tolerance. I think it has made me a stronger person. I consider sarcoidosis my best friend. I know that probably has means I need a padded room and one of those cute little white coats with the arms that fasten behind the back. But it is with me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I bathe, eat, sleep, and do my living with it. Under those circumstances it is better to treat like a friend. Anything just doesn’t make sense.

My next few articles will deal with defining sarcoidosis; all the terms that goes with it, and experiences of dealing. I am also planning on discussing things like medical testing and procedures, insurance, finding a good doctor. There are all kinds of resources available if we just look.

It is common knowledge that perfume designers and makers are experts on the subject of pheromones and the subconscious connection they create among individuals. As a perfume/cologne user, utilizing this scientific research to the utmost is a sound investment when buying higher quality beauty merchandise.

Let’s begin with what pheromones. Our skin excretes pheromones from different areas of our bodies, and these hover in mid-air like molecules. The phenomenon of “love at first sight” occurs when a person’s unique pheromones connect with the VNO receptors in another person’s nasal passage. VNO receptors are still under a lot of investigation, but they are thought to respond to certain pheromones, opening pleasure channels to the brain and increasing breathing and blood pressure.

Based on this information, producers and designers of perfumes are constantly striving to create the ideal mixture of scent and matchmaking using the VNO-to pheromone connections. So, what is the origin of these pheromone additives?

Despite the rumors, makers of pheromone-based perfumes do not extract these components from other human beings. Rather, through exhaustive study, perfume makers have had success with producing a synthesized pheromone product incorporated into pheromone-based perfumes and colognes.

Successful incorporation of pheromones into perfumes and colognes involves a delicate balance between the chemistry and the scent of the perfume so as to perfectly harmonize with the synthesized pheromone additive. As the creation process is so complex, pheromone-based perfumes and colognes can be significantly more costly than other perfumes and colognes

The disclaimer stated by the perfume designer and maker is another important facet of perfume and cologne based on pheromones. As pheromone science studies go on, these products advertised to be a subconscious route to better sexuality disclaim the idea and say that sex is not a guarantee, only that heightened sensuality may occur.

Try a pheromone-based product for your next bottle of perfume or cologne, or with any future beauty purchase. Though your sex life may stay the same, you will discover yourself more and more attractive to the opposite sex, greatly influencing your outlook in life.

…continued

Constant Routine

Let’s be honest. Caring for your teeth is a matter of continuing and perpetual maintenance. Taking daily care of your teeth is just as important as other hygiene activities like bathing and shaving, if you want a pretty, white smile. This is a change that you just have to make in your lifestyle. That’s not to say you have to become an obsessive tooth brusher camping out in the bathroom or kicking yourself over one missed day, but consistency is very important.

To provide your teeth the best care, it’s important to have a daily routine in the morning after breakfast and in the evening either after dinner or before going to bed. By doing this, your teeth will be clean most of the day and all night while you sleep, which encompasses a large percentage of the average person’s life.

Our Recommended Teeth Whitening & Cleaning Regimen

This regimen needs to be followed regularly and we suggest a twice daily schedule, once after breakfast and again after dinner. Allow yourself a period to adjust, since this will take an additional twenty minutes. When you get into a routine it will be easy and the results will come quickly.

1) Begin by utilizing a home teeth whitening kit for the recommended time, typically five to ten minutes. We recommend doing this first so that you can remove the leftover whitener once you’re done.
2) After that, thoroughly clean your teeth with an electric tooth brush, making sure to cover the underside, front and back. Remember to brush your tongue well, too.
3) Use a flossing tool (they’re easier to use than regular floss) and slowly clean between each tooth. Cavities often develop here because meals and grime have the potential to build up without effort there. This is also a common cause of stains.
4) Finally, make sure your teeth stay clean and protected by using a mouth wash. This gives you the bonus of clean, minty-fresh breath as well.

What sort of teeth whitening is most effective?

If you want even brighter teeth, you should use a tooth whitener daily as well as brushing. This will really amp up the whiteness of your teeth. Over the years, we’ve tried almost every product out there. Keep in mind, though, that as technology improves, the old whiteners become obsolete as more effective and easier products take their place.

WHITE LIGHT™ Home Tooth Whitening System

One of the newest products to provide highly effective tooth whitening is the WHITE LIGHT™ Home Tooth Whitening System. After using the item for seven days, we were happy with the drastic results it brought us. Considering that our tester had previously used another teeth whitening system before changing to this one, the amount of whitening was even more amazing.

We suggest: Whiten teeth Instantly using Light Technology!

Most people who have white teeth also have healthy teeth, so even though white teeth are mostly cosmetic, they usually come with health benefits. The only means of achieving such a truly bright smile is to find the perfect tooth whitening product and use it regularly. Find out what we suggest for getting the whitest teeth below.

If you have been on the lookout for a good at-home teeth whitening kit, you’re in luck. Over the years, dental hygiene has become recognized as a vital part of your overall health. It turns out that general dental hygiene has a direct effect on health conditions that might not be immediately apparent. Good dental practices can prevent problems and promote wellbeing. A sparkling smile rarely happens naturally; for most people, it requires effort multiple times per day. The best thing you can do for your pearly whites is maintain a consistent regimen of tooth care. Your teeth won’t be truly bright and beautiful unless you care for them every day.

Next we’ll be covering the daily dental routine needed for the care of your teeth as well as how to get your teeth whiter and brighter.

To get a better understanding of your teeth and their care, let’s examine their early development. During your early youth, your teeth have a protective covering of porcelain hard enamel to strengthen them. Gradually, with everyday use, the strong, white outer layer gets worn off and its opacity diminishes. This translucency allows the yellowish dentin at the core of the tooth to show through more and more, creating a dingy appearance. Since we chew all the time, millions of tiny cracks occur over time. Plaque, food and beverages get trapped in these openings and can stain the teeth and cause the formation of dental caries. With proper tooth care and effective whitening, you can eliminate plaque and clean away accumulated stains.

Stop for a minute to think about what you put in your mouth in one day. Typically it’s three or four meals or anything else you might eat or drink. Have you ever been too worn out at the end of the day to bother with getting your teeth brushed? Keeping up with a routine can be difficult but if you want whiter, healthier teeth, consistency is key…

…see next post…
